The second step is to define the filing countries of your patents. Sometimes there is no need to apply in all countries, where the company is selling to. Especially when you are a supplier, you will need to protect only some markets of your OEM.
Based on the country list, the next step is to define the different IPR you want to apply. A combination of patent and utility model is very often done, or the combination of trademark and design.
